Roadrunner Moving Policies

Things We Do & Don't Do

General

  • All furniture must be emptied of its contents, and those contents must be packed into boxes. We cannot move furniture that has not been emptied.
  • We ask that all loose items are boxed at the time of the move. The more prepared you are for the move, the more efficient we can be, and the quicker the job can be completed.
  • All mattresses must be covered with a mattress bag.  You can find them at places like U-haul, Home Depot..etc. The crew will put the mattress bag on your mattress for you prior to moving it.
  • Older furniture that has deteriorated over time due to heat or age can be very difficult to move, and may tend to break or fall apart. These items will be handled with extreme care, but we cannot be held responsible for damage to deteriorated items.
  • Furniture made of simulated wood (particle board, MDF, press board) tend to have poor structural integrity, and are usually not meant to be moved once assembled. These items will be moved with extreme care, however Roadrunner Moving cannot be held responsible for damage to these items.
  • Please notify us of any elevator time restriction in your building prior to the move.
  • Philadelphia homes are known for having small, tight stairwells and entrances. We will do our best to fit your furniture through these spaces, but will not be responsible for damage caused by non-routine moving including: standing pieces on end, hoisting, handing items over railings, tight stairwells or entrances.

Parking

  • Roadrunner Moving will not drive our truck off of street surfaces or onto steep embankments. In certain instances, it may be required that we position our truck onto your property or partially in the street.
  • Please be aware that positioning a large truck can be extremely difficult. Roadrunner Moving will not be responsible for any damage caused to your driveway, lawn, yard, trees, or plants.

Assembly / Disassembly

  • We are NOT able to take apart cribs or bunk beds for liability reasons. If you would  like us to move them, they must be disassembled prior to our arrival.
  • Roadrunner Moving cannot disassemble or reassemble any electrical equipment requiring a manual or moving parts.

Workout Equipment

  • We can move your workout equipment within reason. Certain items require a great deal of assembly and disassembly, but we will do our best. It is best to break down your equipment prior to our crew arriving, in order for us to move as efficiently as possible.
  • Peloton treadmills will incur a $300 fee, and will only be moved ground floor to ground floor. Unfortunately we do not move any Peloton Tread+  treadmills.

Pianos

  • Roadrunner Moving will move upright pianos at our discretion, for an additional fee of $180. They can only be moved from a first floor to another first floor.
  • Roadrunner Moving does not move grand pianos.

Appliances

  • In the event that we have to move appliances, large or heavy objects, you must inform us in advance so that we may properly assess if they can be moved safely.
  • Roadrunner Moving is not responsible for the working condition of appliances, electronic, or mechanical equipment.
  • Our crew cannot disconnect any appliances, gas, water or electrical lines during the move.
  • If you are moving a top/front load washing machine, you are responsible for arranging a third party technician to install shipping bolts to your machine.

Hoisting

  • Hoisting furniture through windows is always left at the discretion of the crew. We are all very experienced with this and more often than not, we are able to make it happen. If the situation seems unsafe, the crew will not hoist your furniture.

Liability

  • In the event that floors, walls, doors, or any other painted/finished surface is damaged during your move, Roadrunner Moving’s liability is limited to $70. We will do our best to repair any scratches, dents or gouges that may be incurred.
  • Potted plants should be emptied before they are moved. When planter pots are full, there is a greater chance of them cracking in transit due to the vibrations in the truck. In the event that a potted plant can not be emptied, Roadrunner Moving will not be responsible for cracked or damaged pots or planters.
  • Roadrunner Moving carries an industry standard policy of $0.60 per pound for all damaged items.

Payment

  • Payment will be collected at the end of every move. We accept cash and all major credit cards. Credit cards will be subject to a 4% processing fee. A 50% deposit is required for all long distance moves.
  • We have a Cancellation fee of $200. We do not have a rescheduling fee for your move, as long as it is done within 48 hours of the move.
  • Either you, or a representative must be present at the time the move is completed. You or your representative is responsible for making a final walkthrough of the home at the time of completion.
